OUR STORY
The Love Works Resource Center is more than a nonprofit—it’s a legacy of compassion and service inspired by the life and vision of George Searfoss, pastor at Hope Community Church. In May 2006, George delivered a sermon titled “Love Works,” declaring that summer to be the “Summer of Love.” His message was simple but profound: to live out faith by loving others deeply in tangible ways. Whether feeding the homeless, caring for widows, or helping a neighbor in need, George encouraged everyone to make love actionable.
George was a man of extraordinary compassion, a friend to many, and a believer in the potential of every individual. He dreamed of a world where the message of “Love Works” would spread like wildfire, inspiring people to serve one another and build stronger communities. Tragically, George passed away suddenly in September 2024, but his dream lives on through the establishment of Love Works Resource Center.
What began as a simple call to action has grown into a vital community resource. The LWRC provides a free food pantry, a free clothing store, community arts programs, and music therapy groups for children and caregivers—all operated by a dedicated team of volunteers.
Today, Love Works stands as a testament to George’s legacy and the power of love to transform lives. By honoring his dream and carrying his torch forward, the LWRC has become a beacon of hope, proving that when Love Works, it truly changes the world.
